PCC Trainers Meeting
Friday p.m.

Fifteen librarians will be trained for NACO after the AALL meeting in Washington. Special training in law materials will be part of the sessions.

OCLC is working on tape loading authority records. The records must be new, not updates. They have to be on a separate tape from other records, and must use USMARC rather than OCLC MARC.

LC copy cataloging uses the originating library's NUC code in 040 $a.

A new version of the NACO training materials were issued in February 1997. They are pursuing publication with CDS.

The PCC core task report is posted on the LC home page. The proposed core authority record includes some good material on normalization.

BIBCO governance will be representational, unlike CONSER which has been all participants.

LC is developing a list which will take the place of the COOPCAT list which has been at Indiana and coordinated by Carol Hixson.

The core record will replace MLC records in 2000 (ca.) when the new system is implemented. Notes are not needed to justify added entries. 653s may stay on upgraded records.

ALCTS and PCC are working on roadshows about cataloger values, etc. that may be called "Cataloging now."
