The Summer of Her Baldness: A Cancer Improvisation by Catherine Lord. Austin: University of Texas Press, 2004, 248 pp., $24.95 paperback, ISBN 0-292-70257-4; $60 hardcover, ISBN 0-292-70256-6. Catherine Lord, a Professor of Studio Art at the University of Calfornia at Irvine and QCA member, uses commentary, e-mail correspondence, description, and a wry wit to give the reader flashes of her life with cancer.

I also want to call your attention to The Accidental Collector: Art, Fossils, Friendships by Wesley Wehr. Seattle: University of Washington Press, 2004, 336 pp., $24.95 cloth, ISBN 0-295-98382-5.
