Calls for participation

Caucus member Tirza True Latimer is organizing “Acting out: Claude Cahun and Marcel Moore” under the auspices of the Berkeley Art Museum. The show will be produced in collaboration with the Jersey Museum, Channel Islands. It is scheduled to open at Berkeley in January 2005 and will travel to Colby College in August, and return to Jersey in October. Astraea Visual Arts Fund aims to recognize the work of contemporary lesbian artists by providing support to those who show artistic merit and whose art/perspective reflect a commitment to the Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice’s mission and efforts to promote lesbian visibility and social justice.” The fund will award two $2500 cash awards to lesbian visual artists. InterseXions
Harmony Hammond is putting together a panel of “thirty something” artists. She envisions a panel of 4-6 yound queer-identified artists from different parts of the country, representing different cultural backgrounds, and doing different kinds of work (not necessarily queer-specific). Making museums matter: how creating critical and community-responsive education programs and exhibits can change our cultural institutions ... and the world. An edited book about museums and the work of social change. Submissions in a variety of formats, e.g. essays, poems, curricula, photographs, cartoons, practitioner research, manifestoes, exhibition reviews, exhibition and program plans, are sought by the co-editors.
