Calls for participation

Video art review is a new biannual e-journal dedicated to the promotion of time-based media. In 2003, Video art review will launch a redesigned website with PDF downloads of the journal. For its second issue, VAR encourages submissions of academic papers addressing emergent work in video or related media (e.g. performance, web). Please send all submissions as a text e-mail, using Chicago style manual. (No attachments will be viewed.) VAR was founded with a grant by the St. Botolph Club Foundation, Boston, Mass. Documentary on African-American Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender: Coming Out Experiences
Barely Breaking Even Productions, a collaboration between journalist and publicist Jasmyne Cannick and long-time activist and writer Charlotte M. Young, is seeking participants for a full-length documentary film exploring coming out stories of African-American GLBT people. The three prong project will include a documentary film, a photography book, and a photo-text exhibition. African-Americans wishing to participate need only call 310-775-3153 or email bbeprod@hotmail.com for a preliminary interview. Participant selection will begin immediately through March of 2003 with priority given to those who reply first. All ages are welcome.

LVA: Lesbians in the Visual Arts announces the “Depth & distance” open entry exhibition for lesbian artists 55 and older (being held spring 2003 in San Francisco). We are seeking entries from artists internationally, from those with exhibition histories to those who have never shown their work. Entries are due January 31, 2003.
