Sherman Clarke is Head of Original Cataloging at New York University, after earlier positions at the Amon Carter Museum, Rhode Island School of Design, Cornell University, and the University of Pittsburgh. He has been active in ARLIS/NA for too many years and in too many roles to remember, though mostly cataloging. He has also participated in local ARLIS activities in several chapters, and now especially in the Catalogers Discussion Group in New York City. He is the founder and coordinator of Art NACO, a cooperative project for establishing authority records for art headings. He is one of the co-editors of the Gay and Lesbian Caucus newsletter. The Caucus is affiliated with College Art Association.
